WRITING REVIEWS: A CHEAT SHEET

In Blog by ygmedia

Let’s face it, sometimes when you’ve had a great experience with a business, you really INTEND to write a positive review. You make a mental note and it either never materializes OR when you sit down to write it, you feel uninspired. We’ve all been there. After all, it is just as important to write about great experiences on social media and review sites as it is to complain or rant about negative ones. Where can I put my review? There are virtually an unlimited of sites that will gladly take your review but if you want to make an impact, a Google review will help the business the most since it will positively impact their Search Engine Optimization (SEO.) Yelp and Facebook are the other two main portals where many people have access to these high traffic sites looking for your input and recommendations.

YELP: You must have an account with Yelp already (or sign up for one.) Look up the name of the company or business in the search bar. Once you find it, it will ask you for your review immediately since this site originated in the business of getting reviews.

FACEBOOK: You must have an account with Facebook already. Look up the name of the company or business in the search bar. Once you find it, you should see a box called “recommendations” that will allow you to enter your review there. If you don’t see this, it could be because their page is not set up as a BUSINESS page.

GOOGLE: You need to be signed in with your Google+ account or gmail account to write reviews. Once you’re signed in, just follow these steps:
Visit plus.google.com/local and search for the location.
Click on the name of the business to go to its page.
Click the Write a review button next to the cover photo.
Rate different aspects of the place using the 1 to 5 star scale, and write any information that you think will be helpful in the text box.
When you’re done, click Publish.
